Home FME-UNI Awarded the prize of the Industrial Council FS TUL

The Industrial Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Liberec (FME TUL) is represented by major industrial enterprises and since last year the council has been awarding selected student thesis. The competition is designed to promote students' practical skills and their creative activities in cooperation with an industrial partner. The prize was sponsored by the company Elmarco, a long-term partner of FME TUL. The winner took home 12,000 crowns. On Thursday 12 September, the judges selected from four entries.

Jiří Nigrín, a graduate of our faculty, received the Prize of the Industrial Council of the FME TUL for his diploma thesis dealing with the flow of engine oil through the drilled channel of the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine during rotation, which he prepared for the Škoda Auto car company in Mladá Boleslav. The Industrial Council appreciated the constructive approach for further development and optimization of combustion engines and awarded the winner with a financial prize of 12 thousand crowns, which was donated to the competition this year by Elmarco s.r.o.

The entries of other competitors were also excellent and innovative:

Jan Klimeš presented his work in which he focused on his own design of a hook container carrier and with it a family story that was the impetus for its solution and resulted in the establishment of his own company HPM Solution.

Anna Krobotová presented the results of her study on the characterisation of thin films deposited on filtered temperature-sensitive materials by magnetron sputtering, for which she was awarded the Preciosa Foundation Prize in June this year.

Zdeněk Vácha also chose an interesting and novel topic for his work, which focused on the use of recycled rubber from tennis balls. In his presentation, he summarized the results of mechanical and application tests and outlined possible applications in plastic parts, including further research directions.

The Dean of the FME TUL also awarded the prize of the Industrial Council to the head of the thesis, Václav Rychtář from the Department of Vehicles and Engines of the FME TUL and Škoda Auto a.s.

Congratulations to all the competitors for their great performances!
