Who can participate?
Eligible are students studying for a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree and faculty members (i.e. the teaching, research and/or artistic staff) of a CEEPUS University that are also citizens of a CEEPUS member state. Students need to have successfully completed two semesters of a regular course of studies to be eligible. Grants for studying in one´s home country are not permitted.
If you have a different citizenship but are enrolled at a CEEPUS university, you might be eligible under special conditions.
Mobility types?
- Students: scholarships for regular semester activities are awarded for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 10 months. The shortest eligible period is 2 months and 16 days.
- Short term students: stays shorter than 3 months are only be permitted for students working on their theses or dissertations (Master- or PhD-students). The shortest possible stay is 21 days. If a visit is longer than 1 month, it must last for at least 16 days into the next month in order for the participant to qualify for the scholarship.
- Short Term Excursions and Summer Schools which may be shorter than a month and may also be attended by undergraduates. Field trips lasting 3-5 days and summer schools lasting 6-30 days.
- Teacher: teaching stays lasting 5 days to 1 month; field trips lasting 3-5 days and summer schools lasting 6-30 days; a coordination meeting with network partners for 2-3 days (with no obligation to teach). There is no limit on the number of trips during the academic year.
CEEPUS grants are limited to 10 months each for BA and MA cycle.
For PhD students there is no restriction.
How can I go on exchange?
- Network mobility - regular type of grant. Network mobility are students and teachers exchanged among the partner institutions of a CEEPUS network.
- Freemover mobility - if your home university or institute is not listed in a network you can also apply for a grant as a freemover in any CEEPUS country.

- June 15th: network mobility applications for the following winter term
- October 31st: network mobility application for the following summer term
- July 1st and November 30th: Freemover-applications, where applicable
Financial support?
Scholarships are paid in the host country upon arrival at the foreign university. The amount of the scholarship and the conditions for the payment thereof vary from one country to another. Travel expenses may be reimbursed to scholarship-holders by their home university.
