Following the recent visit of Professor Dr. Mariatti Jaafar, whom students and academics had the opportunity to meet during lectures at the Technical University of Liberec, visited Ing. Pavel Brdlík, Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering TUL at TUSM. At Technology at Universiti Sains Malaysia, there he gave a series of lectures focused on current topics in the field of polymer materials processing. The lectures appealed to a wide range of audiences – from undergraduate and graduate students to academics.

The content of the lectures covered technological aspects of plastics processing, recycling issues, biodegradation of polymer materials and an introduction to European legislation and technical standards. In particular, the opportunity to compare approaches between the European and Malaysian environments was of great interest and led to a number of stimulating discussions. This exchange of experience brings a new perspective on teaching and research methods and also contributes to the improvement of the professional background of students from both universities.

During the stay, possibilities for further cooperation between the two institutions were also discussed. The exceptional instrumentation and research objectives of both sides open up space for joint projects, exchange visits and the development of international research networks.
