Sharing experiences from foreign research internships
December 2 – In a pleasant pre-Christmas atmosphere, an inspiring meeting took place with DSP students and young academics who reported on their research internships abroad. A meeting full of inspiration to motivate other students and young academics of the Faculty of Mechnical Engineering, to encourage and share their international experiences
Modern production of components at Škoda Auto a.s.
December 3 – A seminar on the production of gearboxes, engine blocks and other components at Škoda Auto was presented by our colleagues today in the shared UNI.Lab at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Are bioplastics really degradable?
December 4 – We held a seminar for polymer, environmental and technology enthusiasts on a comprehensive look at the degradability of bioplastics. Dr. Pavel Brdlik, from the Department of Engineering Technology, guided us through the issues of biodegradation in composts and soils, freshwater and marine habitats, and in wastewater and landfill environments. He presented the methodology for determination and evaluation of biodegradation of biocomposites developed at TUL and the issue of labelling of biodegradable plastics.
We'll be testing a new fuel
December v – The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has concluded a cooperation agreement with ERVO Industry Technology s.r.o. in the field of testing sustainable fuels. The company produces liquid fuel for internal combustion engines by recycling plastic waste using ERVO (Ecological Recycling of High Molecular Weight Waste) technology. In the laboratories of the Department of Vehicle and Engines, this fuel will be newly tested and compared with conventional petroleum-based fuels. We believe that this project can contribute to finding greener solutions in the energy and transport sectors.
Meeting with students of the Secondary School of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering in Nová Paka and Vrchlabí
December 6 – Another Face2Face meeting organised in cooperation with Škoda Auto a.s. took place for students of the Secondary School of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering in Nová Paka and Vrchlabí. We introduced the graduates to the possibilities of studying at the Technical University of Liberec and the development in the field of automotive engineering. Together we also had a look at the Vrchlabí plant, with which we cooperate.
Meeting with principals and representatives of secondary schools
December 11 – The faculty management held the second round table with representatives of secondary schools. The faculty presented new directions in education at the Faculty of mechniccal Engineering, support for the transition of students to university, integration of new technologies into teaching and the offer of practical workshops for teachers, events for students organized to link the practical and theoretical aspects of teaching (workshops, summer schools, internships or apprenticeships, year papers, etc.).
KICK-OFF (FOR) ENGINEERING
December 11 – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL and IAESTE LC Liberec organized the first year of the KICK-OFF (FOR) ENGINEERING project aimed at promoting technically oriented education of students "Build your career, start by studying engineering".
Maybe St. Nicholas will come... and he came again
December 11 – ...and he came again. The traditional Christmas gathering of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was a jolly one.
Experience from foreign research internships
December 12 – In a pleasant pre-Christmas atmosphere, an inspiring meeting was held to motivate students and young academics of the Faculty of Mechnical Engineering, to encourage and share their experiences abroad.
Professor Dr. Mohd Yazid Yahya visited the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
December 11,12 – Professor Dr. Mohd Yazid Yahya was a guest at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and on this occasion gave two lectures on Energy absorption of composite structures and Potential natural fibre composite to blast loading. Professor Yahya is the Director of the Centre for Advanced Composite Materials CACM at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia UTM. We are looking forward to continuing further collaboration, with students visiting us as early as April 2025.
Traditional meeting with jubilarians
December 12 – Advent, a time of peace, contemplation and anticipation, was used by the Dean Jaromír Moravec to thank his colleagues for their work and to wish them well as they celebrated significant anniversaries. Congratulations!
Christmas potluck at the brewery
