Martin Rota's stand-up to promote technology
May, 5 – Four student projects, four doses of inspiration – we presented student projects from the Faculty of Engineering in a fast-paced and live performance. We showcased the world's unique nanopistols - the first portable nanofibre production device. And finally? An energy-packed one man show by Martin Rota, creator of the YouTube channel Scientific Hammer!
Start-up TUL
May, 6 – The final of the 11th edition of the Start-up TUL competition took place. The BlockBees team of Jan Matyáš from the Faculty of Engineering of TRUL, which is trying to find synergies between Bitcoin mining (datacentres) and the use of low-potential heat, was among the ten finalists out of twenty-five. BlockBees hosts client ASIC miners at a surplus hydroelectric power plant in Ethiopia, connected directly to the electricity backbone. The project aims for energy efficient operation, decentralisation and, in the near future, sustainable heat recovery for projects such as fruit and meat drying and cricket and warm water fish farming. The team also sees a very interesting direction in water desalination or in the textile industry.
Meeting of the 1st year students with the faculty management
May, 12 – Presentation of the possibilities of profiling bachelor studies, offer of compulsory elective courses, feedback on studies and discussion – the programme of the meeting with Vice-Dean Luboš Běhálek with the participation of about 50 students.
Concrete examples of digitalization and AI in production and logistics Škoda Auto a.s.
May, 13 – An exceptional lecture and discussion with the Chairman of the Board of Management of Škoda Auto, Mr. Andreas Dick.The topic was modern trends in production and logistics, concrete examples of digitalization and the use of AI at Škoda Auto and a look into the future of the automotive industry. The day also included a Škoda Roadshow at the University Square - with demonstrations of the latest technologies and IT applications directly from the field.
Meeting of the AS FME TUL
May, 14 – The agenda of the 10th meeting included the approval of the annual reports, the budget for 2025 and discussion of the Report to the Internal Evaluation Council of TUL.
Study or work abroad
May, 14 – The presentation of mobility programmes, FME TUL Mobility Fund, foreign internships within IAESTE and subsequent discussion – another motivational meeting with students organized by the Department of International Relations of FME TUL and representatives of IAESTE.
Cooperation with the University of Tuzla from Bosnia and Herzegovina
May, 12–16 – At our faculty we welcomed Assoc. Almir Osmanovic from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of UNTZ, who visited our faculty within the CEEPUS program. During the week-long stay, meetings with students, visits to selected laboratories and mutual introduction of research areas of both faculties took place with the aim to more closely connect the departments for the implementation of student and academic exchanges and joint educational activities. The Faculty of Mechnical Engineering of TUL has submitted the Erasmus+ mobility programme KA 171 with the University of Tuzla. If supported, students and academics from both faculties will have the opportunity to carry out exchange visits and enrich their studies or strengthen their research activities in an international environment.
Spolupráce s University of Tuzla z Bosny a Hercegoviny
12. až 16. května – Na naší fakultě jsme přivítali doc. Almira Osmanoviče z Fakulty strojní UNTZ, který v rámci programu CEEPUS navštívil naši fakultu. V průběhu týdenního pobytu proběhla setkání se studenty, návštěvy vybraných laboratoří a vzájemné představení výzkumných oblastí obou fakult s cílem více propojit pracoviště pro realizaci výměnných studentských pobytů a akademiků i společných vzdělávacích aktivit. Fakulta strojní TUL podalal s Univerzitou v Tuzle mobilitní program Erasmus+ KA 171. V případě podpoření budou mít studenti i akademici obou fakult možnost realizovat výměnné pobyty a obohatit své studium, či posílit své výzkumné aktivity v mezinárodním prostředí.
