Wandering around the projects
November 5 Wandering around projects, an event of the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic intended for the general public, took place this week at our faculty. We presented the university's 3D printing in construction and architecture project to interested members of the public with a guided tour and demonstration of real printed elements.

Session of AS FME TUL
November 6 The 6th meeting of AS FME TUL took place.

CZEDUCON 2024
November 18 to 20 the 6th Conference on Internationalisation of Higher Education CZEDUCON 2024. The main topics were internationalisation for all, the emergence of the digital age, collaboration between organisations, and mental health care for staff and students. Approximately 700 representatives of foreign and domestic universities, international think tanks and government were expected to attend 60 panel discussions, lectures and workshops. Marcela Válková from the Department of International Relations attended the event on behalf of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

We are a proud part of TUL third in the category of faculties recommended by employers 2024
November 18 – FME TUL has defended our bronze position in the faculties category in the Employer Recommended School 2024 survey. Being the third ranked faculty in the Czech Republic is an achievement and a commitment for us at the same time. The award of the Employers' Club was received at a festive meeting in Prague, by Vice-dean Jan Valtera together with representatives of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Brno University of Technology and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VŠB-Technical University Ostrava.
We would like to thank all our partners, companies and employers for their feedback and for the votes they award based on the contribution of graduates on the labour market. We appreciate it very much. This competition also proves to us that the study and graduates of technical fields, especially engineering, are in high demand by employers.

Visit to Nuclear power plant Temelín NPP
November 18 As part of the faculty excursion with students, a visit to the guarded area of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant was traditionally held. During the lecture, students had the opportunity to discuss with Pavel Šimák from CEZ Group, our partner.

From AI fundamentals to image analysis
November 18 The Department of Glass producing machines and robotics hosted a lecture by Martin Komák, an expert in programming artificial intelligence and robots, from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava.

Concert to commemorate the events of 17 November
November 19 The events of 1939 and 1989 the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and the International Students' Day were commemorated by a concert of the Krkonoše Symphony Orchestra.

Component production at Škoda Auto, innovation and new technologies in the automotive industry
November 21 A day-long meeting with students of the Secondary School of Industry in Mladá Boleslav with Vice-dean Luboš Běhálek and dr. Robert Voženílek, Head of the Department of Vehicles and Engines. The Face2Face meeting was realized on the basis of cooperation with the Škoda Auto a.s. automotive company in Mladá Boleslav. We introduced our faculty and study opportunities to the students and engaged them in a discussion within the framework of lectures on the development of mobility, the importance of plastics and lightweight composite structures in the automotive industry, including their innovation and transformation in the context of sustainable mobility. The programme was interactively combined with a tour of the component production on site.

Alumni Day of foreign graduates of FME TUL
November 22 Faculty of Mechanical Engineering organized the first meeting of our foreign alumni. Alumni and current students of our faculty attended the meeting and shared amazing stories and experiences. It was a great meeting full of inspiration for all participants. A big thank you to all the participating alumni, Yeshwanth Srinivas, Eng. Balaguru Baluchamy, Eng. Prabhu Balakrishnan, Saurabh Sawant, Eng. Murali Prasath Balu and other students and academicians for creating a wonderful atmosphere. A big thank you to the co-organizers from the TUL International office, Kateřina Maršíková and Michaela Andelová, who presented the current opportunities for international students not only from engineering but also from other faculties of TUL.

Cooperation with K. I. Satbayev Kazakh National Research Technical University (SU)
November 25-29 Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was visited by representatives of the partner university K. I. Satbayev Kazakh National Research Technical University (SU), with which the faculty is newly cooperating within the Erasmus+ KA171/credit mobility. Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering doc. Jaromír Moravec and the Vice-dean doc. Jan Valtera welcomed the first Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Strategic Development Samgat Yermekbayev and Academic Mobility Manager Nazgul Sembayeva to the faculty. As part of the intensive week-long negotiations on setting up further cooperation between FME/TUL and SU, a meeting with the Vice-rector Kateřina Maršíková and the Head of the International Department Michaela Andělová also took place. The guests were presented the laboratories of the departments FME TUL. The next step to deepen cooperation will be the conclusion of MoU for strategic partnership with TUL, which will be exclusive for TUL to cooperate within the Czech Republic. Other planned activities are stays of PhD students of SU at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, bilateral hosting of professors, preparation of double degree programs for MSP students as well as Cotutelle for the implementation of joint PhD studies, online workshops aimed at linking specific scientific departments and StudentFormula team and last but not least exchange visits of students and employees of SU and FME TUL.

New trends in product and tool coating
November 27 The Department of Material science in cooperation with PhD students prepared a practical one-day seminar for teachers of technical secondary schools from Průmyslovka Liberec, VŠ and SPŠ Jičín, Secondary School of Mechanical Engineering, Construction and Transport, Liberec and Secondary School and Kindergarten Liberec, Na Bojišti. The participants prepared thin coatings using the magnetron sputtering method, on which they then tested the evaluation of their properties.

28 November 28 In connection with the announcement of the Erasmus call for the next academic year, an information meeting for interested students and staff of the Faculty of Mechaanical Engineering was held.

Engine models dominate the 3D printing competition
November 29 The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering held its third annual competition for high school students. The competition motivates high school students to invent and use 3D printing technologies to make models of technical devices that illuminate the principle of their operation. In this way, high school students learn not only to use 3D printing, but also to work in teams, to take responsibility for the timely and best possible completion of the project, its defense and presentation in front of an audience.
