We welcomed the graduates from 1959 to the faculty
September 5 – The tradition of annual meetings at the alma mater before the start of the academic year continues – and this year was no different. We were honored to listen to their experiences and outlook on life, which inspired us in many ways.
Development of cooperation with the Mladá Boleslav Secondary Technical School
September 5 – The faculty management discussed the development of mutual cooperation with the new director of the Mladá Boleslav Secondary Technical School, Vojtěch Keller – a graduate of our faculty. We discussed the preparation of physical practices, workshops, excursions and technology days for Mladá Boleslav students. We also continued the successful tradition of students participating in our faculty's summer schools, which they have been enthusiastically participating in for the second year already.
SESIA 2025
September 9 to 11 – The annual meeting of engineering faculties from the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic took place this time in Prague. This year's edition was organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
Dies Academicus 2025
September 11 – Academic ceremony, which included the handing over of decrees to newly appointed associate professors, handing over diplomas to new doctors, introduction of newly appointed prof. and doc., conferring the honorary title of dr.h.c. and the awarding of TUL commemorative medals. Doctoral diplomas for FS TUL were received by: Ing. Tomáš Kozlok, Ph.D., Ing. Tomáš Petr, Ph.D., Ing. Mária Urban, Ph.D., M.Sc. Jan Kohout, Ph.D., M.Sc. Eliška Kohoutová, Ph.D.
Ing. Tomáš Hruš, Ph.D., pedagogue from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TUL, received an award for the development of an extensive and didactically exceptionally high-quality collection of solved examples for the subject elasticity and strength I. The collection systematically progresses from simpler to more complex tasks, supports independent thinking and is modern digitally processed. Its implementation with supplemented photographs and 3D models contributes to the improvement of teaching quality and to the support of academic success.
FME, FM, FE/TUL mission to Canada
September 7 to 13 – Vice-Dean Jan Valtera visited the partner University of Waterloo in Canada, where, as part of the Erasmus+ KA171 project, he mainly discussed with colleagues from the Waterloo Institute of Technology about existing R&D cooperation, the possibilities of mobility exchange programs for students and employees, attended lectures and seminars from various fields of engineering and also established contacts with industrial partners from the Ontario region.
3rd year of the FME TUL Industrial Council Award competition
September 17 – The program of the FME TUL Industrial Council Industrial Board meeting included the evaluation of the FME TUL Industrial Council Award competition. The winner was our graduate Věra Jirásková for the development and application of the magnetic stain method for determining the depth of hardening of the functional surfaces of camshafts, which she worked on in cooperation with Tedom a.s., Jablonec nad Nisou. The prize was presented by representatives of the company Magna Liberec, which donated a financial reward of CZK 15,000 to the competition. Thanks also go to the other finalists for their great projects: Jan Matyáš – cooling system design for ASIC bitcoin mining equipment. Jaroslav Kodeš – device for continuous measurement of fillet weld quality. Pinky Jayaraman – Manufacturing system design at UCT. Everyone's performances were very balanced and showed the value of student collaboration with industry.
Meeting with FME students
September 24 – Vice-Dean Luboš Běhálek invited first-year students to a traditional introductory meeting. The meeting with doctoral students was organized by the vice-dean, Petr Lepšík.
COMSAT 2025
September 24 to 25 – An international conference organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, our university was a co-organiser. It is the largest event in the ASEAN region focused on research on composites and their technologies. The conference takes place online in seven parallel lecture rooms. The Technical University of Liberec is represented by associate professor Michal Petrů with a contribution on the topic: "Predictability level of strength of sustainable composite construction obtained from ALPS-GP with the integration of Physic-Informed Neural Network framework".
Meeting with international students
September 25 – A group of international students from India, Pakistan and Cambodia accepted an invitation to meet with representatives of the faculty management. Together we talked about the study and also about the planned events that will take place during the winter semester – the Diwali festival, excursions to Škoda Auto a.s. or UCT Fluid Delivery Solutions, a job fair and other interesting activities.
Matriculation
September 26 – At the Matriculation ceremony, the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL took over from the hands of doc. Jaromíra Moravce Matriculation certificate of a student and students of the first year of bachelor's studies.
Graduation
September 26 – A total of 17 bachelor's degree graduates who passed the state final exams in August received their diplomas from the hands of the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL, Assoc. Jaromír Moravec. Congratulations and best of luck in your future studies!
Career Days
September 26 – The end of the week was really busy. the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL presented itself to the students of VOŠ and SPŠ Jičín, Lepař's Gymnasium Jičín and Masaryk's Business Academy, Jičín at the Career Day. Many thanks go to our graduates from these schools, who today continue at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL and came to share their experiences from their studies. Big thanks to the organizers for a great event!
Scientists' Night also at TUL
September 26 – The attendance of this year's Scientists' Night exceeded all expectations! We thank everyone who is interested in science and technology for visiting our Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL. This year we focused on the theme of wealth: the fascinating journey of making a PLA bioplastic bag, the journey of which begins with a corn seed. For the smallest visitors, we filled it with popcorn, which, like PLA, is prepared from corn, the circular economy and the use of post-consumer recyclate to reprocess plastics, the wealth of energy in drive systems and modular platforms.
How to reach secondary school pupils of the Liberec Region
September 30 – How to approach secondary school pupils of the Liberec Region with general education and their science teachers in relation to learning about technology and its study – this was the main topic of the meeting of representatives of our faculty with the Liberec Region Councilor for Education and Sport Jitka Skalická, Head of the Department of Education, Youth, Physical Education and Sport Jiřina Princová and Technical Director of Magna Liberec Tomáš Radosta, who represented the employers of the Liberec Region and members of the Industrial Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL. Jitka Skalická said: "Technical fields need skilled and motivated people, and we are looking for ways to bring them to them already during their studies in secondary schools. Together with the vice-dean for educational activities Luboš Běhálek from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering TUL and employers, represented by the technical director of Magna Liberec Tomáš Radosta, we therefore discussed how best to reach pupils from schools with a general orientation and show them that technical education opens up a lot of possibilities. The future of many industry in the Liberecký Region is based on technical education. Only if companies, schools and the university pull together, will we be able to really attract and retain students for technical fields."
